Advantage of a Solar Energy House

Posted by admin in August 17th 2010

There are many people who are not worried about their energy bills. In fact a few of them have arrangements with their banks to pay their utility providers directly. One fine morning such people will be surprised, that is if they bother to check their bank statements. The fact is that most such people hire accountants to undertake mundane tasks like going through bank statements. All that these people do is to sign the account statements prepared by their accountants. These people will, at one stage of time or another, realize the value of a solar energy house, when they eventually check their utility bills. They do not know that the costs of electricity have jumped up by leaps and bounds.

The utility companies announce such increase in prices in their bills, but one has to glance at these bills to know about the impending increase in costs. Unlike these people, there are another group of people who have value and respect for their hard earned money. They know that the power costs are getting out of hand and they search for alternatives like sourcing electricity through solar cells. Nature has gifted us with sunshine and it does not cost any money to access and use the same. The solar power cells convert the light energy emitted by the sun and turn it into electric power. The power can be directly fed into their electric gadgets or it can be stored in heavy-duty cells (like the ones used in automobiles) and use it as and when required.  Read more...

Basic Understanding of your Digital Camera Flash

Posted by admin in July 29th 2010

Many of us do not think twice about the usage of our digital camera’s flash assuming that the camera will use the flash automatically as needed. Flash however can and should be manually set in many scenarios resulting in high quality digital photos.

The most common usage of flash photography is when there is not enough ambient light for example when taking an indoor digital photo in a dark room. There are many other ways in which you can use your digital camera’s flash to get high quality digital photos. One such usage is fill-in flash.

Before setting your flash to manual mode and making more efficient usage of it you should know a bit more of the technology and history behind flash photography. Flash photography has been around for more than a century. During the early days of photography flash was implemented as a powder that was literally lit by either fire or electrical current. At that time flash photography was a risky business. Digital cameras today use a safe implementation by utilizing electronic flash tubes that are automatically synchronized with the camera’s shutter.  Read more...

Solar Energy – 3 Great Ways Countries Can Benefit

Posted by admin in June 28th 2010

Solar energy is one of the renewable energy resources that are advancing as a way to get energy in the future. Of all of the renewable energies, solar is the one that is used the most. It’s clean, efficient and readily available. There are two ways solar power can be converted to be used in the mainstream. The first way is what you see on your tiny calculator. This is called the photovoltaic effect when light energy is converted into electricity. The other way to use solar energy is by heating a transfer fluid (many times oil) and combining it with water to create steam, which moves a generator.

These are both great resources and are being explored more and more everyday. However, not enough is being done because countries still rely on power plants, foreign oil and nuclear plants to get electricity. In the United States, there are more homes everyday that are converting solar power. In the western states where it’s sunny and warm year-round, a large number of houses have already converted. By doing this they are saving money on electricity and helping save the environment.  Read more...
